Music has always been a big part of my life. In my early years, I had so much fun playing music with my dad. He'd play the trumpet while I played the piano; I always looked forward to the happiness we shared in these moments. From playing the piano in church every week to learning challenging compositions in my personal time, I feel so fortunate to have piano be in almost every day of my life. When I create music, I am connected with both my heart and mind.
Teaching others to play piano and develop their learning capacity fills my heart with undescribable joy. It is exciting to see a student use their creativity using elements of what they've learned. Whether a student is doing solo work, duets, trios, learning theory, composing, or improvising, I get to witness first-hand the joy they experience in their learning. I love to be a part of the process of helping individuals create skills that they will pass on to their family and friends. Their brain is engaged and I can see them becoming better people. I've seen over and over again the positive impact that learning the piano can have in someone's life. Their world become more loving, effective, and purposeful.
